It's a Zoo

Our trip to Calgary was definitely not short on fun. I thoroughly enjoyed our adventure to the Zoo. The best part was the fact that my fiancé had never been to one before! Seriously, it was the cutest thing watching his fascination with the animals. It was like he was four years old again. Here are some of my favorite moments.
Check out the buns on that one.
Shouldn't he be in a cage or something?
Remember these when you were little?!
 So perrrrty.
White flowers have always been my fav.
 Lovely lady lumps.
 I love elephants!
Like a big kid!
 Woah.
 Silly kitty.
Just chillin.

Little Man

It has been officially one year since we "rescued" our handsome little man. We consider ourselves the luckiest parents to our pug/german short-haired pointer/bulldog cross (yes we got a DNA test for him). He is our little love & everyday I tell him I wouldn't know what I would do without him. It is crazy to think of our lives before him.

What a cutie pie, love you Bearsy Bear!

Stagette & Shots

The two other brides-to-be and myself were treated to a day full of craziness this past weekend. The best way to describe it would be, insane fun. Our girlfriends went beyond & above to make this day special for us. The champagne was sabered, the games were scandalous, & the food was TDF.  We made it quite clear we didn't want any obnoxious crowns, sashes, or costumes... just booze. We were definitely not short on that.  The theme? French.
(blue & white just like Quebec)
(how cute are these little toppers?)
(sabering the champagne, the only way to open a bottle)
(shots, shots, shots)
(the best seats in the house)
(guess the kitchen item)
 (wine tour)
(crackers cleanse the palate)
(soaking up the sun w/ a couple of bottles)
 (hello pretties)
(cheers!)
(so rustic)
(I just had to show them the whip cream game)
(so close Aimee)

Special thanks to everyone who put this day together for us. Also to Lauren & Maegen whose pictures I stole :)

Must Have Monday- AromaAir

Continuing my love for Saje I am telling you you Must Have their AromaAir diffuser.
This little guy diffuses essential oils which are designed to enhance the atmosphere in your home. It is a quiet running machine that offers several different cycles which include, continuous or intermittent settings as well as fan speed.  I put the AromaAir in the bedroom at night and set the fan to low & let it run continuous while I sleep...so dreamy. Did I mention it is heat free & doubles as a humidifier? Bonus.

(also comes in white)

There are so many essential oils that Saje offers, they are designed to stimulate the mind & body. One of my favorites is grapefruit. It helps control the liquid processes in the body while creating a detoxication state. It aids in weight loss & eliminates cellulite. It also is said to create a euphoric and slightly hypnotic sense of mind...I have no idea what they are talking about...our bottle is almost gone.
Rain Forest diffuser blend  fills the room with wood scents, reminds me of my yoga training (don't know why). I love this rustic smell which is designed to cleanse and rejuvenate the mind. The smell reminds me of a walk in the forest after it has rained (huh that's where the name comes from). This essential oil really brings the aromas of outside inside. I run this all day everyday in the main floor of our home.

Saje offers so many amazing essential oils. I recommend going in and smelling them all, your body tends to gravitate towards what it needs. I guarantee you will leave happy. Shopping online? No worries they make it easy to choose with their detailed descriptions on how the oils effect the mind & body.

Oh So Delicious- Calgary Food Edition

It was my mission when arriving in Calgary to try some of the best restaurants the city had to offer. After spending so much time in a non-foodie city, my taste buds were dying for some flavor. 12 days of taste testing, here are my top restaurants & dishes.

Una Pizza- On top is Una's 4-maggi with provolone, asiago, mozzarella & asiago, finished with truffle honey. On the bottom is the wild mushroom with scarmorza cheese, arugula, grana padano & truffle oil. AKA my truffle heaven. This place is full of hipster couples sharing vino & a pie.

Silver Dragon- This restaurant is located in the heart of Chinatown & we may or may not have ordered takeout from here twice.
I am sure all the other rooms on our floor were wondering where the scrumptious smell was coming from.
Sweet & sour chicken balls, veggie dumplings, and chicken fried rice yummy in my tummy.

This was the largest dumpling my eyes have ever seen. One and you are done.
________________________________________________________________________
Globefish -The sushi had me drooling but it was the ultra trendy decor and fashionable waitstaff that made my experience anything but dull.
{Ps have you ever tried inari? If not you are missing out on my favorite item on the menu, a pouch of fried sweet tofu filled with sushi rice .}

Borgo Trattoria had won me over before we even sat down. They were projecting an Italian fashion show in their bar area. Love that.
In-house baked ciabatta bread with a sweet balsamic & olive oil dip, warm feta & olives, and sauteed mushrooms were a few of the appys that made it to our table.

Feeding into my truffle oil obsession, the white wine sauteed mushrooms with truffle oil (obvs) & herbs won over my heart.
While my fiancée & his family opted for the create your own 3-course dinner I indulged in the orecchiette pasta dish. While you would think the broccolini & parmesan shreds would have been my favorite part, they however were not. It was the whole roasted garlic gloves that had me licking my plate (okay not really but I was thinking about it).

Thai Tai is the after bar destination. With the line wrapping around the corner, the long wait is well worth it. The unique Vietnamese subs (ya you heard right) they offer had me in flavor heaven.
Chicken curry on wheat with shredded carrots, cucumber, & special sauce (don't really know what it is but I guarantee you it makes the sandwich that much better).
To satisfy my fried fix I had the veggie egg rolls which were flaky & filling. I recommend you also try their extensive list of smoothies/bubble teas. Kiwi mango. Delightful.
